About Us

The Happiness Project is a psychology center based in Malaysia, committed to providing personalized, evidence-based care rooted in empathy, science, and humanity. We offer clinical therapy services, psychological assessments, and trauma-informed support for individuals, couples, families, youth, and corporate clients.

We believe healing is most effective when approached holistically.
That’s why we work hand in hand with a lifestyle medicine clinic, to ensure our clients receive truly integrative care.
Our collaborative team includes medical doctor, compounding pharmacists, counsellor, lifestyle medicine practitioner, and trauma-informed therapist who works together for the betterment of every patient.

While The Happiness Project fully meets all licensing requirements to operate as a registered mental health center in Malaysia, our foundation is more than administrative — we are proudly rooted in Malaysia, where our clinical values, purpose, and vision first took shape. We remain deeply committed to supporting local individuals, families, and organizations through trauma-informed, accessible care that honors the unique mental health needs of our communities.

As our work has grown, so has our reach. Today, our largest client base is in Singapore, where we collaborate with organizations, workplaces, and mental health professionals from Singapore to provide cross-cultural and integrative support for individuals and teams. Beyond Singapore, we are honored to serve a diverse international community, with clients from the United States, Australia, Taiwan, Indonesia, Brazil, and the United Kingdom.

Wherever our clients are, we offer care that is culturally responsive, globally informed, and grounded in humanity.

A Bit About Me

Kamini Profile Pic_edited.jpg

Hi, I’m Amy. I am the principal psychotherapist and Co-Founder of The Happiness Project.

I am guided by a deep belief in the human capacity for growth, healing, and connection — which is why my work is grounded in a humanistic approach, empathy and the therapeutic relationship as the heart of the healing process.

I’m not just saying that — I take this to heart. I personally ensure every client case at The Happiness Project is carried through with a clear, individualized case formulation, one that integrates hope as a therapeutic element, honors each person’s lived experience, and upholds our humanistic and trauma-informed values.

Rather than adopting a one-directional or traditional model of therapy, we practice a collaborative, person-centered approach, where healing happens through partnership, not hierarchy, and guided by clinical insight, deep empathy, and a shared commitment to meaningful change.

I began my academic journey at Raffles, Singapore and extended my therapist training through the International Psychology Centre, Malaysia. My specialization includes Psychological Assessment, Child & Adult Psychotherapy, and Emotion-Focused Therapy.

Over the years, I’ve also trained in trauma-informed care, with clinical experience in Art Therapy, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

Currently, I’m pursuing my advanced training in Clinical Neuropsychotherapy under Dr. Jennifer Sweeton, a neuroscientist with Stanford University School of Medicine.

I am also working with educational partners to develop masterclasses, clinical demonstrations, and role plays for therapists and psychologists across Asia — including Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.

But beyond the titles and trainings, I’m someone who has known what it feels like to carry quiet questions no one seemed to notice.

As a child, I often turned to books to make sense of the world; stories that helped me believe healing, hope, and kindness were possible, even in the darkest corners.

That vision stayed with me, and today, it fuels the work I do.

It’s why at The Happiness Project, we care deeply about creating spaces where children feel safe to ask for help, and why we continue showing up for communities that have long gone unheard in conversations about mental health.

I dream of a world where speaking about mental health feels safe. Where no one is shamed for asking for help.

Where children grow up knowing they are allowed to feel, to struggle, and to heal.

And where no one is left alone because support didn’t arrive in time.

If you’re here, reading this, maybe something inside you is looking for comfort, clarity, or simply a place to exhale.

If so, know this: there is space for you here. And you don’t have to carry it all on your own anymore.

The Story

A few years ago, I met a young lady during what was meant to be a routine conversation. She was smiling, polite, and seemed fine on the outside.

But when I simply asked, "How are you?" — her eyes filled with tears.

That one question unlocked a flood of hidden pain. She had recently been hospitalized after multiple suicide attempts. No one around her knew.

I wasn’t a trained therapist at the time, just someone with a heart for listening, shaped by years of volunteer work in orphanages and refugee centers.

We began meeting weekly. I offered what I could: presence, empathy, and the quiet belief that her life still held meaning.

That experience changed everything for me. I realized how many people wear a smile while silently struggling. Some don’t seek help because of stigma. Others simply don’t know where to start.

That day, I made a promise: to create a space where people feel safe to be seen, heard, and supported. And that promise became The Happiness Project, a mental health sanctuary built on compassion, science, and hope.

I owe deep gratitude to my parents, my family, and my former CEO, whose unwavering belief in me made this dream possible.

We believe healing doesn’t always begin with big breakthroughs. Sometimes, it begins in small, quiet moments, with someone who’s willing to stay.

Today, the same young woman is pursuing her dream in the arts — alive, thriving, and full of hope.
